Orbis donates US$1 million to eye care project in central region

(VOV) - Orbis Vietnam has collaborated with the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee on a project to provide eye care to children in the central region, funded with US$1 million by the Canadian International Agency.

The programme which runs from August 27 through June 30, 2018 aims to reduce the rates of blindness and poor vision among children in the central region through enhancing access to eye care services at Hue Central Hospital and Hue Eye Hospital.

In addition, the programme will fund short-term continuing education courses for staff of the Hue Eye Hospital.

The project seeks to fund the cost of eye care for children and train medical staff in the central region, enabling them to more effectively treat and prevent eye diseases of children, Paul Forrest, Orbis Regional Director said.
