Labour hero Prof. Vu Khieu has been awarded the Independence Order, first class, for his contributions to the development of social science and humanity, as well as to national construction and defence.

The awards ceremony was held in Hanoi on September 12 in the presence of Vice President Truong My Hoa and former Party General Secretary Do Muoi.

During the past six decades, Prof. Khieu has conducted dozens of research projects of highly theoretical and practical values, which have been recognised, helping resolve the country’s pressing issues in the Renewal process.

He has been presented with the Ho Chi Minh Prize for his contributions to scientific research and personnel training for well-known universities across the country.
