State President Nguyen Minh Triet on January 14 announced the appointment of 21 Vietnamese Ambassadors and General Consuls to various countries.

Talking with the newly-accredited ambassadors at the presentation ceremony, President Triet hoped that they would help promote economic diplomacy, study the markets where they are posted and boost investment relations between Vietnam and those countries.

Diplomats should be active and creative to strengthen friendship among nations and increase Vietnam’s prestige in the international arena, he said.

The State leader also emphasised the need to study Ho Chi Minh’s Thought to protect the interests of the nation for the sake of democracy, human rights and religion.

In the current context, Ambassadors should promote economic diplomacy, strictly follow laws in resident countries and familiarize international friends with Vietnamese culture, he added.
