Speaking at the award ceremony, President Triet congratulated General Giap, an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh, on his 100^th birthday and 70 years of Party membership.

The name and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap have long been associated with the struggle for national liberation and construction and the Vietnamese people always admire his outstanding talent and great contributions to the country, he said.

The State leader affirmed that younger generations are keen to learn from the General’s morals, manners, revolutionary spirit and faithfulness to build a more prosperous Vietnam.
