Around 100 delegates from China and member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) attended the ASEAN-China Information and Communications (ICT) Business Forum, which opened in Malaysia's northern state of Penang on April 18.

During the two-day forum, which is part of the second ASEAN-China ICT Business Week, delegates are expected to exchange views on a wide range of issues covering ICT investment, foreign trade polices, ICT technology standards, human resource development and capacity building.

Since the ICT field was established as one of the five major fields of co-operation between China and ASEAN in 2001, bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the ICT industry have leapfrogged, Secretary-General of China's Association of Communication Enterprises Zhang Chunlin said.

Mr Zhang hoped that this business forum will further strengthen the ties and promote the common development and prosperity of China and ASEAN.
