An additional 216 ancient tombs, including more than 200 jar tombs, have been found in the central province of Thua Thien Hue.

The tombs cover 2,300sq.m of the Con Rang relics site in Phu O hamlet, Huong Chu commune of Huong Tra district and were excavated on July 30 by the Vietnam Archaeological Institute in coordination with the Thua Thien-Hue Revolutionary and Historic Museum.

 

Archaeologists said these tombs belonged to the Sa Huynh culture, dating back over 2,000 years.

 

Earlier, as many as 1,319 artifacts were also unearthed at the Con Rang relics site, including items made from iron, bronze, stone, glass and pottery.
