The first turbine of the Ba Ha River Hydroelectric Power Plant in central Phu Yen province will start operations by the end of this year and the second is slated for one year later.
According to Director of Ba Ha River Joint Stock Company Vo Van Tri, the plant started to store up water on April 20 after four years of construction.

Along with water accumulation, the project’s contractors are urgently completing key works and installing equipment and machinery, he added.

The Ba Ha River Hydroelectric Power Plant, located about 70km to the West of Tuy Hoa Town, is the biggest plant in the envisaged hydropower system on the Ba river with a design capacity of 220MW.

Once completed, the VND4.27 trillion (US$267 million) plant will turn out 825 million kWh annually. It will also improve flood control in the Ba river’s downstream areas, contributing to the socio-economic development of Phu Yen province and the central region as well.
