The signature mobilisation programme will be launched on October 11, with the aim of attracting attention to the sporting event, which will be held in Vietnam for the first time ever from October 30 to November 8, 2009.

All the signatures will be collected in a book, which will then be auctioned to raise funds for the poor.

The runner-up of the 2008 Miss Universe Vietnam pageant, Duong Truong Thien Ly, who is also the AIG III Ambassador, will join the programme.

Also on October 11, about 10,000 people will participate in a walk on Le Duan street to welcome the third Asian Indoor Games.

During the Games, the athletes will compete in track and field, short course swimming, finswimming, dance sport, archery, petanque, wushu, pencak silat, women’s boxing, shuttle-cock kicking, sepak takraw, aerobics, chess, Chinese chess (Xiangqi), futsal, Thai muay, basketball, E-Sports, traditional Vietnamese martial arts (Vovinam), billiards&snooker, kurash (central Asian wrestling), bowling, kick boxing, kabaddi, Lion and Dragon Dancing, a demonstration of the martial art jujitsu, and beltwrestling.
