A national survey on the theme of "Vietnamese Family 2006" will be carried out from April 2 by the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), the Committee for the Population, Families and Children, and the General Statistics Office.

The national survey, the first of its kind, aims at analysing the real state of Vietnamese families during the initial years of the 21st century and under the influence of national industrialisation and modernisation and globalisation.

The survey will cover 9,300 households in 775 communes and wards of the 64 provinces and cities.
