Ho Chi Minh City’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.15 percent in October against last month and 5.87 percent compared to the beginning of the year, according to the municipal statistics department.

Groups of consumer goods saw a high rise in transport, post and telecommunications, water and electricity, fuel and construction materials and household equipment and appliances.

The prices of other groups increased slightly against last month, but education expenses saw no change. Also, there was a slow down in the rise of prices for foodstuffs.

Due to increasing world gold prices, the price of municipal gold in October rose by 5.03 percent against September. Meanwhile, the US dollar edged down minus 0.33 percent.
