Deputy foreign ministers from Vietnam and Uzbekistan held talks in Hanoi on May 30 to discuss economic, trade and cooperation ties between international bodies.

The talks between Permanent Deputy FM Le Cong Phung and Uzbekistan Deputy FM Salikhbaev Anvar were part of Anvar's five-day visit to Vietnam, which began on May 29.

The guest reiterated his administration's strong support for Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent member seat on the UN Security Council for the 2008-09 term.

Uzbekistan is eager to broaden the relationship between the two countries in all areas with the two foreign ministries playing a crucial role, Mr Anvar concluded.
