OVs in Sri Lanka support AO/dioxin victims

(VOV) -Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy and the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Friendship Foundation on February 18 visited the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA), presenting gifts to AO victims.

Sri Lanka-Vietnam Friendship Foundation Vice Chairman Dr R.A Chandrasena acknowledged the constant hardships and lingering pain suffered by AO victims over the course of their lives.

He promised to pass on the lessons he has drawn from daily life in Vietnam—and particularly the struggles of AO victims—to help overseas Vietnamese in Sri Lanka learn more about the situation in their homeland.

Representing the more than 3 million Vietnamese dioxin victims, VAVA President Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Van Rinh thanked the overseas Vietnamese community for their support, noting the gifts will offer invaluable encouragement to AO victims in their daily struggles.

The Sri Lanka-Vietnam Friendship Foundation has actively supported Vietnamese Dioxin victims’ struggle for justice. It has also lobbied international organizations and individuals to support Vietnam in overcoming war aftermath.

The organization is working with the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the overseas Vietnamese community there to submit a project to build late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh Monument in capital Colombo to the local administration.
