Russia, Vietnam promote trade, sci-tech cooperation

(VOV) -A press conference to announce the results of trade, science and technology cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in the fields of agriculture, energy and industry took place in Hanoi on October 31.

The event, held by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), is part of a visit to Vietnam by State Duma deputies from October 28-November 2, aimed at strengthening the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.

Strozaeva Lubov Viktorovna from the Centre for Strategic Cooperation under the State Duma said new initiatives that has been unveiled during the visit will be undertaken in Vietnam to bring real benefits to its people and businesses.

She expressed hope that the RCSC’s Archive Centre will be built shortly to serve as a further bridge between the two nations.

Dr. Nguyen Trong Tinh, Head of the Vietnam Institute for Applied Physics and Scientific Instrument, said the State Duma visit opens up new investment opportunities and helps his Institute learn more about Russia’s advancements in science and technology.

A symposium between Vietnam and the Commonwealth of Independent States in late 2013 will further boost bilateral high-tech cooperation, he added.
