A delegation of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Task Force led by former US Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson will pay a working visit to Vietnam from January 8-13, according to a press release of the US embassy in Hanoi.
The visit is aimed at evaluating the causes of HIV pandemic in Vietnam, assessing current efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, including critical gaps and emerging challenges, and identifying opportunities for pre-emptive US engagement to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in the country.
The mission plans to hold meetings with Vietnamese officials, foreign embassies, UN agencies, non-governmental organisations, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
