The Ministry of Planning and Investment has reported that foreign direct investment (FDI) continued to increase, mainly in the industrial and services sectors.

Vietnam attracted US$11.26 billion in FDI in the past 10 months, a rise of 36.4 percent over the same period last year.


The industrial sector received US$5.33 billion, which accounted for 54.6 percent of the total investment capital registered in the reviewed period, while the services sector drew in US$4.25 billion, or 43.6 percent of the 10-month investment capital.


According to the Ministry’s Foreign Investment Department, in October alone 99 new FDI projects with a total capitalisation of US$1.46 billion were licensed, bringing the number of licensed projects this year to 1,144 and the registered investment capital to US$9.75 billion.


In the month, an additional investment capital of US$196 million was approved, increasing the amount of additional investment capital permitted in the past 10 months to US$1.51 billion.
