China is eager to further expand cooperation with Vietnam, a member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPCCC)'s Political Bureau, Luo Gan, said on June 18 when receiving Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong.

The Chinese Party official stated that the friendship between the two countries is growing and bringing practical benefits for both sides. He recalled the recent visit to China by President Nguyen Minh Triet and the important agreement reached by the two sides during the visit, with a view to elevating the bilateral ties to a new level.


For his part, the deputy PM reiterated the Vietnamese Party and Government's policy of placing importance to developing the relations between the two countries, particularly broadening cooperation in all fields.


The same day, Deputy PM Trong met with the Head of the CPCCC's Commission for External Relations Liaison, Wang Jiarui.
