A press conference was held in Hanoi on May 16 to review the implementation of the campaign “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.

The four-year campaign, which was launched on February 3, 2007, aims to revive traditional moral values and lifestyles and combat corruption, red tape and wastefulness.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also deputy chairman of the Central Steering Committee for the campaign, told media workers that the campaign must go hand in hand with the implementation of the resolutions of the 10th National Party Congress.

However, he said success depends largely on Party members’ will and determination to carry out the campaign and on people’s support.

“The campaign this time should be combined between disseminating President Ho’s morals and highlighting the importance of each individual’s self-improvement, thereby creating positive results in the ethics and lifestyles of Party members and the entire society, said Mr Trong.

He emphasized the need for clear directions and supervision to ensure the campaign’s implementation.

The NA Chairman also urged the mass media to promote “revolutionary morals and healthy lifestyles” so that people from all walks of life, including overseas Vietnamese, could participate in the campaign.

President Ho’s moral example will form the core of community cultural life and good relations among our people, said Mr Trong.

The representative of the Communist Party of Vietnam Website announced at the press briefing that a contest on telling stories about President Ho’s moral example will be launched on the website on June 1.
