In the context of deeply integrating into the world economy, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) should play an active role in uniting scientists and intellectuals inside and outside the country and proposing important issues related to science and technology, and education and training, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet paid a working visit to the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) on April 9.


Mr Triet heard 18 scientists presenting their frank opinions on Party and State policies aimed at stimulating the development of national science and technology.

At the meeting, many scientists asked the Party and State to perfect policies, mechanisms and the legal corridor for scientists to make greater contributions to the country.


The State President expressed his appreciation for their role and positive contributions to the struggle for national liberation in the past and the current process of national construction.


Mr Triet asked sectors, ministries as well as the VUSTA to raise management capacity to meet increasing requirements for science and technology renovation and to try their best to overcome all difficulties as Vietnam is in the international integration process.

Mr Triet said he will work out a specific working programme with the VUSTA to resolve pending issues so as to help the Union move forwards in the near future.

On this occasion, the VUSTS presented an insignia “For the Development of Science and Technology” to State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
