The Vietnamese and Thai armies should continue strengthening cooperation in experience sharing, personnel training, search and rescue work, as well as joint sea patrols, says PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

The PM made the proposal while receiving a delegation from the Royal Thai Army’s Defence Force, led by General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, Chief of Defence for the Thai Royal Armed Forces.

He welcomed the results of the talks between Thanasak Patimaprakorn and Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, which he said will make a practical contribution to cooperation between the two countries.

He acknowledged the fine development of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in various fields, especially economics, trade, investment, tourism and security.

He spoke highly of the effective cooperation in joint sea patrols between the two armies, contributing to promoting bilateral friendship and cooperation.

PM Dung suggested the two sides cooperate more effectively within the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), including the East Sea issue, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

For his part, the Thai General said his visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two armies, especially in human resource training and rescue. He said he will try his best to boost relations between the two countries and armies.
