The National Assembly is reforming its operations to move closer to practical realities and voters’ desires, Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Phu Trong, said on June 11 during his meeting with Hanoi’s voters in Ba Dinh and Cau Giay districts.

During the meeting, voters proposed taking more specific and drastic measures to fight corruption and wastefulness, reduce traffic accidents and improve the quality of education.

They also asked for improvement of legislation quality to ensure the effective enforcement of laws. Many voters agreed they have seen improvements in the legislature’s operations and that their proposals have been discussed carefully, publicly and democratically.

Chairman Trong praised voters for their recommendations, saying their opinions will help National Assembly deputies to better perform their duties.

Regarding voters’ opinions on the enlargement of Hanoi, the NA leader said the legislature has asked the government to draw up a city development plan for open discussions among the public.

Mr Trong said as the country is giving top priority to curbing inflation, stabilising  macro economy and ensuring sustainable growth, the public should unite and actively respond to economic stability measures to help the country overcome difficulties and further develop.
