State President Nguyen Minh Triet has sent a message of congratulation to the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS)’s staff members and volunteers on its 60th founding anniversary.

The letter said, “Living up to the teachings of the late President Ho Chi Minh – a founder and honorary President of the VRCS, Vietnam has upheld its tradition of national benevolence to overcome difficulties and challenges, launching many humanitarian and charity activities and bringing about practical results.


Mr Triet praised VRSC on its outstanding achievements in humanitarian and charitable activities and strong development during the past 60 years.


He expressed his belief that in the coming period, VRSC will continue to bring into full play its glorious tradition, reinforce unity and call for the community’s strength and international friends’ support for launching diverse humanitarian and charitable activities to help people with difficult circumstance such as Agent Orange/dioxin victims, disabled people and ethnic minority people living in remote and mountainous areas.


VRSC was also urged to make every effort to turn it into a strong organization worthy of being a key force in the country’s humanitarian cause.
