A commercial airliner appeared to overshoot a runway in Yogyakarta early March 7 before bursting into flames, according to local media in Indonesia.

News services reported more than 100 people were on board, but the status of the passengers was unclear.

The Associated Press reported that the jetliner was carrying an undetermined number of Australian journalists and diplomatic staff who were in Indonesia with the country's foreign minister. However, the foreign minister was reportedly not on the plane.

The Garuda Airlines Boeing 757, which was arriving from Jakarta, was landing at Yogyakarta airport when the incident took place.

A video footage from the scene showed rescue workers and onlookers surrounding the plane's smoking fuselage. The top of the plane appeared to have burned away.
