A passenger ship service between Guangxi province of China and Vietnam's northeastern province of Quang Ninh has been resumed after several months' suspension.

The Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT) said six travel companies in Quang Ninh have been allowed to provide services for Chinese visitors.

The companies have undertaken not to let Chinese visitors enter casinos, and have to offer uniform rates and ensure service quality in accordance with the signed contracts.

Last March, the Chinese government stopped issuing travel permits to people visiting Vietnam through Mong Cai border gate to keep them away from gambling tables.

Earlier, in October last year, it temporarily banned its citizens from traveling overland to 14 neighbouring countries, including Vietnam.
As a result, Chinese tourist arrivals in Vietnam have plunged by 25 percent to 142,660.
