Tran Manh Giang, head of the department said it is important to closely monitor the raising, trading and transporting of poultry and set up eight check points to prevent the transport of suspected poultry products into the city as well as establish a hot line to update information about the disease.

The department has culled 2,050 out of 3,661 birds at a farm in Soc Son district and coordinated with local authorities to carry out sterilisation around areas which were hit by bird flu.
