The United Nations has designated December 5 as “International Volunteer Day” to honour the voluntary spirit for the entire community by all walks of life, especially young people.

In Vietnam, each year, tens of thousands of young people and students take part in voluntary movements to help the poor and social beneficiaries. In addition, many activities have been held to raise funds for the disadvantaged, poor and disabled children.

Luong Thi Phuong, a member of the “Green Youth” club from northern Nam Dinh province said the club’s major activities are to help the disabled, orphans and street children and disseminate information on HIV/AIDS among young people.
