State President hails growing Vietnam-Japan ties

(VOV) - State President Truong Tan Sang applauded the flourishing Vietnam-Japan relations at a reception for a delegation of young parliamentarians from the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan in Hanoi on August 29.

The delegation's visit will positively contribute to the promotion of cooperation between the two legislative bodies as well as the two nations’ young parliamentarians, Sang told delegation head Matsumoto Yohei.

President Sang extended his deep sympathy to the Japanese Emperor and Prime Minister over the Japanese people’s huge loss of human life and property in recent landslides in Hiroshima prefecture.

“Geographical and cultural similarities will make it easier for Vietnam and Japan to increase promote cooperative areas in line with the cooperation framework of an extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.”, Sang said.

The State leader stated that Vietnam always places high importance on strengthening ties with Japan which is a top priority in its foreign policy.  He also thanked the Japanese Government for maintaining its ODA funding for Vietnam which has greatly helped boost the country’s socio-economic development.

The two nations should intensify high-level delegation visits and exchanges between politicians and parliamentarians thereby enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation for the sake of development and prosperity in the region and the rest of the world, Sang added.

For his part, MatsumotoYohei said young Japanese parliamentarians want to continue their closer cooperation with Vietnamese counterparts in the areas of Japan’s strength with a view to fostering the relations between the two peoples.
