PM Dung praised ASOCIO for selecting Vietnam as the venue for the 2010 ASOCIO Summit, and spoke highly of the productive cooperation between ASOCIO and the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA).

Mr Dung stressed that Vietnam is keen to develop its information and communications technology (ICT), considering it the number one tool for advancing the process of national industrialisation and modernisation.

Vietnam aims to develop a powerful ICT sector, he said, adding that the country’s IT growth rate reached 20 percent in 2009.

ASOCIO Chairman Looi Kien Leong congratulated Vietnam on its remarkable ICT achievements, saying that during the 2010 ASOCIO Summit in Vietnam, which run from June 17-20, ASOCIO will share with Vietnam and other regional countries its experience in devising and implementing ICT development policies.

ASOCIO is a group of IT industry associations from 21 official members, including Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
