Leaders of Vietnam’s northern mountainous province of Yen Bai and the Lao province of Vientiane have highlighted the results of their cooperation in education, training, healthcare, agriculture and forestry, and Party building since 2008.

This was affirmed by Secretary of Vientiane Party Committee and Governor Khammeung Phongthady and Yen Bai authorities at a working session in Yen Bai on June 24.

Yen Bai authorities said that the province will spend VND1 billion to help build accommodation for teachers of the Vientiane boarding school.

Khammeung Phongthady, who was also a member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, thanked the Vietnamese Party and State and Yen Bai Party Committee and people for their special care.

He said he hoped the two sides will further bilateral comprehensive cooperation to bring practical benefits to each province’s socio-economic development.

Earlier, on June 24, the Nguyen Du school in the capital city of Vientiane, founded by the Vietnamese People Association in Vientiane, celebrated their 2010-2011 school year.

Headmaster Truong Van Tai said the school enrolled 1,278 students of kindergarten, primary and junior secondary school age and 62 teachers in the 2010-2011 school year.

With a high rate of graduates at all levels, the school had contributed to promoting the special relationship between the two countries.
