Vietnam and China signed a document in Hanoi on November 30 on the construction of the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace.

Signatories were Cao Viet Sinh, deputy minister of Planning and Investment and Lu Jianhua, Assistant Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.

Under the document, China will provide 200 million yuan in non-refundable aid to the government of Vietnam while Vietnam will use part of its budget to carry out land clearance and build guest houses. This is the biggest cultural project for Vietnam that China has funded.

The two-storey palace has a total area of around 14,000 square metres including a conference hall, meeting rooms, offices, and medical units.

The project will be implemented by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO).
