The 10th International Agriculture Fair (AgroViet) opened in Hanoi on November 11 with the participation of more than 300 businesses.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Diep Kinh Tan, said that GDP of the agricultural sector has remained at a high growth rate of over 3.3 percent per year over the past five years with total estimated export turnover reaching more than US$16 billion this year.

Mr Tan emphasised that due to the impact of global financial crisis, the sector has met a lot of difficulties recently. Therefore, the event was of great significance for businesses to expand both local and foreign markets. It also gives the industry a fresh impetus to develop agro-forestry and seafood production activities and to improve the competitive edge of businesses. In addition, it also offered an opportunity for businesses to promote their trademarks, access new technologies, and seek foreign clients and partners.

The event will run through November 14.
