Vietnam’s coffee output for export has surpassed one million tonnes with a total turnover of US$1.55 billion by early November this year, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The output has increased by 43 percent compared to the same period last year while export turnover has reached 84 percent.

Germany continues to be the leading importer of Vietnam with a market share of around 14 percent, followed by the US, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.

Since the beginning of the year, the prices of Vietnamese coffee have soared but are still around US$50-70 lower than those of other countries.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cacao Association, Doan Trieu Nhan said this is due to the fact that Vietnam has not yet followed standard purchasing procedure in the world market.

Vietnam’s coffee export turnover is expected to reach around US$1.8 billion this year, according to the Vietnam Coffee and Cacao Association.
