The EVN Telecom under the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), together with VSLN International, has invested US$200 million in an Intra Asia (IA) submarine fiber optic cable connection system.

The 6,800 km long IA system will link Vietnam with China, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and the Philippines.

The system will also be able to join a fiber optic cable system available in Japan to link these countries with the US and another one in Singapore to link them with Western Europe.

The system's initial transmission capacity will be 320 Gbps and then 5.6 Tbps after an upgrade.

Once operational in the first quarter of 2008, the system will offer EVN Telecom's subscribers better services.
