Vietnam eliminated from U14 Asian football champs

(VOV) - The Vietnamese U14 football team’s 0-1 loss to Malaysia in Myanmar on June 3 means it will not advance to the final round of the 2014 U14 Asian Championship.

Vietnam’s players launched attack after attack but repeatedly failed to score.

In the 54th minute, a mistake from goalkeeper Thai Hieu, created an opportunity for Malaysia’s Fayyadh to score the winning goal.

Vietnam finished third in group E, one point behind group E leaders East Timor and Malaysia.

The three Southeast Asian teams contesting the tournament’s final round, hosted by Uzbekistan, are East Timor (first in group E), Thailand (first in group F), and Malaysia (the next highest ranked team).
