Vietnam’s total retail turnover reached VND73.6 billion in April, a rise of 18 percent on March, said the Market Watch Bureau under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

This brought the total retail turnover in the first four months of the year to VND295 billion, up 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

The bureau attributed the climb in retail turnover to the rocketing inflation rate.

It predicted that there will be more fluctuations in retail prices this month due to the ongoing epidemics in domestic livestock and the increased demand for entertainment services in the summertime while the world food, fertilizer and oil prices have no signs of cooling down.
