Vietnam and Cambodia's border areas should be helped to promote development cooperation.

That was the conclusion drawn by experts attending a symposium in Hanoi on May 30 to discuss a greater strategy for development of bilateral relationship.

Participates pointed out the need to facilitate trade promotion activities, apply tax incentives and customs procedures and intensify the fight against the smuggling of counterfeit goods across the border.

The need to upgrade border checkpoints, build inter-provincial roads, plant industrial crops such as rubber and increase cultural activities between the two neighbours was also emphasized.

The seminar was held to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Cambodia.
