A person was confirmed dead and 7 others were seriously injured after a hotel lobby under construction collapsed in the central province of Ha Tinh on October 2.

The labour accident happened at 15.00 when 14 workers were working on the front part of the lobby of Sailing Tower Hotel in Nguyen Du Ward, Ha Tinh City. More than 10 workers were said to be buried in the rubble.

Rescue forces, including the police and the army, as well as cranes were mobilised to search for those trapped in the rubble. 

After an hour, seven people were taken out of the debris and brought to city hospital for treatment. A female worker, 42, was found dead. 

Search and rescue activities ended in the evening, said Le Dinh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. A team was established to look into the case, he said.

Construction of the 7-storey hotel is underway by Hai Linh Joint Stock Company. The hotel is located on Revenue 70, Nguyen Du Ward, Ha Tinh City.
