More than 50 businesses from Thailand are displaying their products at a retail fair, which opened in Hanoi on May 6.

With good quality and diverse patterns, Thai products, including jewelry, garment and fashion materials, cosmetics, electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, auto and motor components, have drawn special attention of Vietnamese consumers.

According to the organising board, the five-day fair offers Thai businesses an opportunity to study the Vietnamese retail market and seek Vietnamese partners apart from advertising their products.

Since the promulgation of Vietnam’s Foreign Investment Law in 1988, bilateral trade and investment cooperation has seen gigantic development. Two-way trade value reached nearly US$6.2 billion in 2008, up 31 percent against the previous year. The figure is expected to reach US$10 billion in 2010.

By March 2009, Thailand had 198 projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of nearly US$5.7 billion.
