Cooperation in developing green energy discussed in Da Lat

They also shared their concerns about the exhaustion of fossil fuels like oil and coal, the current improper use of energy, the greenhouse effect caused by the overuse of traditional energy, climate change and challenges in exploiting and using energy, fierce competition in energy-related issues from business to global levels, economic and natural risks in the global energy use now and in the future, as well as recognising and averting these problems.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Wee Rawatt Chantata Kome from the Asia-Pacific energy research centre said that together with traditional energy, nations and businesses should focus their attention on developing other sources like solar and bio-energy.

Participants agreed that information sharing and cooperation in developing a green and sustainable energy system is a strategic plan for the future. They said it is very necessary to do research and find ways of developing new and renewable energy.

They emphasized the crucial role of the private sector, member countries, and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council in building an implementation mechanism.

The forum, which attracted 60 representatives from ASEAN members and other countries like France and Sri Lanka, provided ASEAN countries and their partners with a good chance to strengthen cooperation in developing green energy for a stable and sustainable future.
