Singapore shares cyber crime prevention experience

(VOV) - Public Security Minister Tran Dai Quang, has urged countries and Interpol to share information about cyber crime and measures to effectively handle the growing situation in crime with Vietnam.

Speaking at an April 13 ministerial meeting on fighting computer crime prevention in Singapore under the framework of his official visit to the country, Quang stressed that in addition to factors threatening traditional security, cyber crimes regularly occurs day-to-day, requiring each country to devise proper responses, solutions and effective coordination methods. Global polices, particularly Interpol must closely adhere to coordinate through bilateral and multilateral channels.

Vietnam has 34 million Internet users, accounting for 36% of its population, ranking as the the 18th among 20 countries with the highest number of Internet users in the world. Cyber crime tends to become more and more uniquely complicated, Quang said.

Vietnam police have effectively worked with law enforcement authorities from other nations to combat this the dangerous crime.

The Vietnam Ministry of Public Security has asked Interpol to adopt flexible policies mechanisms to support law enforcement agencies of member countries to improve the efficiency of prevention and fighting cyber crime, especially transnational crime.

Participants at the meeting echoed Quang’s views, as saying cyber crime threatens all countries, demanding closer coordination among law enforcement agencies to battle against this kind of crime through Interpol coordination mechanisms.

After the meeting, Quang and other high-ranking officials attended an inauguration ceremony of the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore.

During his visit, Minister Quang also held bilateral meetings with Interpol President Mireille Ballestrazzi and Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock, who affirmed that Vietnam is a valued responsible member of Interpol and the international community.

On the same day, he also met, Nobuhiro Endowhich, the President of NEC group- a supplier of solutions, equipment and network infrastructure for the new IGCI.
