HCM City enhances cooperation with Moscow province

(VOV) -On October 21, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan received a delegation from Moscow province led by Governor Andrey Vorobiev, currently on a visit to Vietnam to seek further cooperation with HCM City in the time to come.

The municipal leader highlighted the delegation’s working visit as a contribution to augmenting cooperative ties relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Moscow.

Since the signing of a cooperation agreement in May 5 this year, the two localities have made great strides in relations towards setting up companies and intensifying investment in Moscow province.

In addition to economic cooperation, Quan suggested both sides strengthen cooperation in science, education, culture, tourism and art, in which tourism is the sector they can boost connectivity.

In September, HCM City welcomed more than 60,000 Russian tourists and Saigon Tourist partnered with Russian travel companies.

Regarding future cooperation plan, Quan said as many as 40 Vietnamese businesses are to participate in a fair in Moscow, adding that his city has set up a working group to direct cooperation measures to facilitate investments from both sides.

For his part, Andrey Vorobiev said the purpose of the visit is to increase mutual understanding between the two localities and make fact-finding tours of some industrial and export processing zones in HCM City to learn more about economic activities and experiences in foreign investment attraction.

The Governor said he believes the traditional relationship Vietnam and Russia would help collaboration between HCM City and Moscow deliver practical benefit to both parties.
