Teaching Khmer language in parallel with Vietnamese in pagodas in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang is developing strongly, especially in summer holidays.

The province is now home to 65 pagodas of Khmer ethnic people, providing free of charge Khmer-Vietnamese bilingual classes for both monks and nuns and children in the neighbourhood.

According to Most Venerable Chau Cak My A pagoda of Nui Voi commune, Tinh Bien district, the teaching of Khmer language is necessary for both monks and nuns and people in the province, as it aims to preserve Khmer language and help local people read newspapers and documents.
