The blind to hold congress this month

(VOV) - The 8th National Congress for the Blind will take place in Hanoi on December 25 with the participation of more than 400 representatives from across the country.

Vietnam Blind People’s Association Chairman Dao Soat said that the living conditions of the blind have improved remarkably in recent years thanks to the Party’s and State’s policy incentives.

Blind people have been offered preferential loans and vocational training to facilitate financial independence and their escape from poverty, he said.

Soat also praised the cultural exchange programmes and sport events organised for blind people. The blind have made significant contributions to national development across various fields, raising their status in society, he added.

He said his association will continue studying and emulating President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples while also expanding activities for the blind at the grassroots level.

He urged the community to extend their support to blind people as they work to improve their professional skills and seize employment opportunities.
