Ho Chi Minh City is home to almost 12,000 IT businesses earning VND 35 trillion by the end of 2009 or 40 percent of the country’s total IT revenue.

Of this figure, 4,000 hardware businesses are likely to contribute nearly VND 29 trillion and 8,000 software and digital businesses around VND6 trillion, reported the Municipal Information and Communications Department.

The city has five software zones, namely Quang Trung software park, Sai Gon software park, E-Town 1 & 2 zones and HCM City hi-tech zone.

HCM City is leading the nation in applying IT with 96 percent of households using computers, 600,000 families and around 66,000 businesses registered for broadband Internet services and more than 35,000 businesses with their own websites.
