Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on October 1 sent his congratulations to the new prime minister of the Republic of Korea.

The RoK Parliament on October 1 approved Kim Hwang-sik as new prime minister by a 169-71 vote.

Kim Hwang-sik, 62, was a former Supreme Court justice and then became head of the Board of Audit and Inspection in 2008.

Kim’s nomination was made by President Lee Myung-bak on September 16.

The key Cabinet post has been vacant for nearly two months after Chung Un-chan resigned late July for failing to get parliamentary support for the “Sejong city” project.
