Vietnam, Ecuador promote political dialogues

VOV.VN - Vietnam and Ecuador concluded the third two-day political consultation session on December 2 in the capital of Quito during which both sides agreed to strengthen political dialogues through high-level exchange visits and the possibility of opening embassies in Hanoi and Quito.

Vietnam and Ecuador consented to promote trade and investment based on an agreement signed between the Institute for Promotion Trade and Investment of Ecuador (Proecuador) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) as well as boosting private sectors.

In addition, they also agreed to step up technical cooperation in energy and technology parks of Yachay City in northern Ecuador.

In terms of multilateral mechanisms, Vietnam appreciated the host country's proposals on its participation in the partnership mechanism of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its future capacity as Chair of the G77 which includes 134 developing and newly emerging countries as from January 2017. Ecuador's Foreign Ministry said Vietnam's Viettel Group is paying attention to investing in the telecommunications sector.

Vietnam is currently one of Ecuador’s top trade partners since it set up diplomatic ties with the South American nation since 1979.

Earlier, a delegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy also paid an official visit to Paraguay for the second political consultation session. The delegation is due to visit Argentina after Ecuador.
