Central Highlands herbs listed

The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has announced a list of 1,657 species of herbs in the Central Highlands region, 88 of which have been named in Vietnam’s red book on threatened fauna and flora.

Scientists collected 359 traditional medicine formulas in the region, of which 320 formulas employ one type of herb.

These home remedies are mostly used to treat diseases related to female reproductive health, digestive disorders and fevers.

Expert said local authorities should protect these valuable plants from overexploitation.

The herbs should be protected in their natural habitat and grown in nursery gardens.
