Banquet celebrates Hanoi’s millennial birthday
A grand banquet was held at the National Convention Centre, Hanoi on October 9 to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Attending the celebration was Party leader Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam along with other senior State, Party and municipal leaders.
Representatives from centrally-run ministries and sectors, provinces and cities, diplomatic delegations, international organisations, armed forces’ heroes and heroic mothers also joined the event.
On behalf of the Party and State, PM Dung warmly welcomed the Party and State leaders, revolutionary veterans, heroic mothers and international guests to the banquet to celebrate Hanoi’s millennial birthday- a great event for Vietnam.
In his speech, PM Dung said over its 1000 years of ups and downs, Hanoi is always been united by patriotism, indomitable spirit, heroism and glorious national feats of arms. The capital is a place where Vietnam’s cultural essence and fine traditional values are preserved. Thang Long-Hanoi is a place that represents the aspiration for peace, friendship and solidarity with all nations around the world.
PM Dung invited all delegates to toast 1000-year-old Thang Long-Hanoi which will continue to develop and flourish in the future, being a worthy heart and capital of the Vietnamese nation- the capital of heroism, peace and friendship.
Mr Dung also expressed his wish that solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam, Hanoi and other cities and countries around the world will grow and flourish.
