Vietnamese image highly commended at TPOTY awards

(VOV) - A picture taken by photographer Ly Hoang Long was highly commended in the 2015 Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) awards which attracted the participation of 22 countries. The winning images will be published in the new TPOTY book, Journey Eight, and displayed in an exhibition at The Museum of London Docklands next summer.


Faces, People, Encounters - Special Mention - Photographer Ly Hoang Long (Vietnam). This picture taken in the Tat Vien village, Hung Yen Province, shows a Vietnamese man transporting bamboo fishing baskets.

Faces, People, Encounters - Winner - Photographer Mitchell Kanashkevich (Australia) documented the moment a Hungarian-Romanian man took a break from ploughing a field in Maramures, Romania.
Nature & Environment - Winner - UK photographer James Morgan took this image of a hunter holding up the head of the wolf he just shot dead in Yakutia, Russia.
Water - Winner - Jasper Doest from the Netherlands took a picture of the moment water was sprayed over municipal waste to dilute the acids released during decomposition in Marchena, Andalusia, Spain.
Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2015 - Winner - Chase Guttman from the USA, aged 18, won his category with this photo of a Lesotho Basuto tribal leader and local shepherds near Semonkong, Lesotho. 
Monochromal - Winner - Best single image in a portfolio - Timothy Allen from the UK took this poignant shot of a life at work on a rubbish dump in Mombasa, Kenya.
iCaptured (mobile phone category) - Winner - Edgard de Bono from Italy took this image of locals in Benin City, Nigeria.
New Talent: Street Culture - Winner - Photographer Zhu Jingyi from China took this picture of a blacksmith in Jiangsu, China.
Young TPOTY 14 and under - Winner - Michael Theodric from Indonesia, 13, took this exciting shot of Boen San Bio Temple in Tangerang, Indonesia. It shows the Lion Dance during the Hungry Ghost Festival.
A Moment in Light - Winner - Photographer Uli Kunz from Germany took this striking image of a jumping man casting a long shadow on tunnel walls in Heligoland, North Sea.
Overall winner - Travel Photographer of the Year 2015 - This image by Marsel van Oosten from the Netherlands took the first place at the competition this year. It was captured in Louisiana and showed a man kayaking amongst the Giant Cypress trees on a misty morning on one of the countless bayous of the Atchafalaya basin, the largest US wetland.
