The Consultancy Council for Administrative Reform and the Prime Minister’s Administrative Reform Taskforce debuted in Hanoi on July 16.

The 15-member consultancy council, set up by the Government Office, is comprised of renowned policy scholars and leaders of business and production associations, including textiles and garments, leather shoes, coffee and banking. It also includes domestic business executives and representatives from commercial agencies of the United States, the European Union and other countries.

The taskforce is to manage and coordinate the statistics of procedures of various ministries, provinces and cities, set up a complete database on administrative procedures and provide administrative and application forms available on the Internet.

At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung called for a greater effort to accelerate administrative reform to benefit people and business circles. 


US Ambassador Michael W. Michalak pledged to help Vietnam implement Project 30 aimed at simplifying administrative reform at State management agencies for the 2007-10 period.
