A World Bank-funded project to help Vietnam develop a complete land management system was launched in Hanoi on September 18.

The Vietnam Land Administration Project (VLAP), built by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), has a total investment of US$100 million. It will be carried out in Hanoi and the provinces of Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Vinh Long between 2008 and 2013.

Under the project, a computerised and easily accessible land information service system will be set up to provide services for people from all social strata.

According to MoNRE Deputy Minister Tran The Ngoc, the project will initially be carried out in the nine above-mentioned localities due to limited financial resources, but his ministry will mobilise additional capital to develop a perfect land management system across the country.
